Hello to all of my amazing support group, My network of comrades near and far, My allies in truth and beauty... I hope you are all doing fantastic.
Normally when I do a mass mail out, I usually hide the addresses, but in this case I want to keep them public. We're all friends, even family, and if not yet, then close enough. So the reason for this rambling e-mail is to update you on the MOST EXCITING event in my life... lately.
Wednesday, Duy and I went to see my doctor. I had an ultrasound and heard, for the first time in my life, a little 175bpm heartbeat of a little person growing inside me!!!!! To the three or four men who are reading this e-mail, that may not be as exciting as it may be to the mothers and women reading this. I'm sorry, but this is procreation. We're witnessing the miracle of life here people! This is a big freaking deal!!! Before that all baby was, was a two little blue lines on a stick of paper. Now I could see for the first time little arms and legs squirming around, and see a little body wriggling. I think we both cried a little.
Sometimes I get a little emotional. It seems to be happening alot more lately... hmmmmm, something to do with that little miracle we were talking about??? For those of you who have listened to me ramble lately about my nausea (Mom especially, thanks for listening) I think the worst is over. I'm 11 and a half weeks now, and I haven't vomited in a few days. I still feel slightly queasy, but it's much less frequent. After that day two weeks ago where I thought I was going to hurl my intestines out into the toilet bowl... I'm actually eating real food, and going through a day without a period of time where all I want to do is flee back to Canada and eat poutine by the bucket load.
But, I'm starting to like Vietnam again. Maybe that will change... but for now, I'm happy and healthy again. And baby... well baby's NORMAL... and to a soon-to-be-mother, that's the most beautiful word in the english language.

her grip on my hand is nothing compared to her grip on my heart
