Ticking Uterus? This one is chiming!!

Update number 5 or 6... not really sure, but it's an update none the less.

Today Duy and I picked up our wedding contract at the law office. Xong Roi! Finally! We've both been so freaking stressed about everything, now we're just two plane tickets and a travel visa away from having baby in Canada. It's nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel. (FYI for interested parties, we're booked to land in Canada on January 18th - Isaac's birthday) so dead of winter, but that's all good.

It's hot in Vietnam today, somewhere around 30 degrees. We were hit with the tail end of Typhoon Durian yesterday, the same one that pummeled the Phillipines last weekend. It wasn't bad at all, just alot of rain that thankfully fell overnight, and a residual coolness that the dry season won't see much of again (not for the next 6 months anyways). Again, pending all of this visa thing goes well, we're both really looking forward to being in Canada for winter, spring and the beginning of summer. It will be nice to take a deep breath without feeling the insides of your nostrils buring, or to pass through a 12 hour time period without feeling a bead of sweat drip down one part of my body or another.

My mother told me once that most women hate being pregnant in the summer. Here in Vietnam, it's always summer. Here are my pros and cons to child gestation in a tropical or summer climate:

Cons
- Higher body temperature means sweating constantly.
- Feeling like I am going to melt is uncomfortable and itchy

Pros
- Can wear a dress or a skirt all through pregnancy
- Can wear flip flops and don't have to worry about swelling feet (although swelling feet definitely falls under the very real con category)
- Am forced to drink more water than I can possibly retain, therefore keeps my skin healthy

Stretch marks? Not yet.
Popped out belly button? Also, not yet.
Anxiety over coming attraction? Every day.

Alisa,

At this moment, I'm watching a movie about metaphysics, and the science of coincidences... and just by chance, I happened to think of you, look you up online, and find out you're returning to Canada in four days. Wow. I just read some of you're blogs. They're even more engaging when I read them in your voice and remember your simultaneously grounded and upbeat personality. Way to be awesome. I'm so happy for you, and the recent HUGE events in your life. I'll be in touch soon, hopefully via email (I'm thinking Dave has your address), and fill you in on some less mindblowing, but still worth-mentioning details of my life.

xoxoxo,

Melissa
