So it's been over a month since I last updated this blog... and I figured that the world was ready for another update from me via the Interweb.
We're in Canada! (as the wise amongst you reading this may have deduced by the title of the post). It's -11 today in Nova Scotia but it's warm inside. Baby's kicking ALOT... I think she wants to come out soon! Duy's enjoying the fresh air of Canada and seeing his breath. We've been here for just shy of two weeks and I'm already missing the HOT of Saigon. That said, nothing is better than curling up under a blanket with the one you love and drinking hot tea in front of a flickering fire over a game of crib. Too much detail? I digress. I need to back track abit.
So obviously everything worked out with Duy's visa. The flight we took turned out to be 43 hours of travel & transit (OUCH) and I don't reccomend it to any 7.5 month pregnant women any time soon. We managed to survive it fine, if not a little (read: a lot) jetlagged, but after two weeks we're in tip top shape again.
Things that have enthralled Duy seeing North America for the first time:
1. Seeing his breath, he still laughs after 2 weeks
2. Snow. Real, live, honest to goodness, snow.
3. Drive Through Speakers (where IS that voice coming from?)
4. The fact that he doesn't find it cold anymore.
I find that amazing too. We'll run outside and take the dogs to the back field in -8 to -18 weather and both of us will come back sweating and hot. It's great!!
Regarding baby, we've had one appointment with my new Doctor and am seeing the Obsteotrician (sp?) who will actually deliver my baby this Thursday. We've also both been to our first pre-natal class and have since watched about 30 baby delivery shows on The Life Network... each of which is equally squirmy as the last. It's not any more gruesome or frightening for me to see on TV than it was before, it's just that I will be going through that experience myself in four weeks that gives me the willies.
But, hey... That's life 'eh?
Stuff we still need to get before baby comes:
1. Diaper Pins (we're going cloth! au naturel)
2. Sealable Diaper Bucket (to keep Yukon's big hairy nose out of the dirty diapers)
3. A bed (basinette, crib, etc)
4. Nursing Bra
I figure that with four weeks, it should be fine to wait for abit before rushing into buying these things... but the longer I wait, the more it seems I have to do. I've already made the cloth diapers for her, sewn her 1/2 a teddy bear (still needs a head) and I need to pack my hospital bag. That said, I've heard that what usually happens soon after you pack your hospital bag is --- you guessed it, labour. So I'm going to delay a little longer.
Due date is still March 3rd... and I'll keep you all posted once I have some free time after she's born. I'm going to have to figure out how to post photos online so that I can do that instead of e-mailing them out and jamming up in-boxes.
On that happy note, take care of yourself, and have a great day!

Alisa,
I hope Duy manages the NS trip well. I also hope he handles the Delivery room weel, not something vietnamese men have much experience with. I know Ha was surprised when I told her I would in the room. Her X never even went to the hospital never mind the Delivery room.
Alisa, I'm blog stalking you :) So happy to hear that Duy is adjusting well to our Canadian winter... just got back from beloved Ho-city and I don't think I'm dealing as well with winter as he is!
Hope everything is well with you, Duy and baby!
